Our Approach

Our objective is to be a premier capital partner for entrepreneurs and founders of businesses. We look to launch and grow great companies. Because of our focus on working with the best entrepreneurs, we also make a meaningful number of investments in search funds. In general, we work best with companies that have the following characteristics:

Highly qualified management team
Unique product / service offering
Scalable business model
Clearly-defined exit opportunities
Low capital requirements to achieve profitability

Geography & Industries

With our offices located in Salt Lake City, UT, we tend to favor investments in the West Coast and Mountain West regions of the United States. However, we also consider investments outside of this region that fit well with our investment strategy. We are generalists and do not specialize in making investments in any particular industry; however, we will not typically invest in pure technology startups outside of a defined business model and go-to-market strategy.

Stage of Investment

We will invest in search funds, seed- and early-stage companies, and small, later-stage companies that have revenues less than $10 million and positive EBITDA.

Investment Size

Our typical investment size is between $100,000 and $1,000,000. Early seed investments are more attractive if they include the opportunity to invest in subsequent rounds. Search funds are much smaller bets (~$35k) and we typically invest in 1 unit per fund.
